BOOK REVIEW: Journeys On The Edge by Walt Hampton

Journeys On The Edge:  Living A Life That Matters is a Self-Help Inspirational Non-Fiction .

Walt Hampton is a writer, speaker, coach and adventure photographer. He is a high altitude mountaineer and a blue water sailor.

His message is this:  Live deeply. Live fully.  Love well. Find adventure and joy.  Rediscover the fun in your life. Revel in audacious possibility.  Give to the world the gifts that are yours alone to give.

Don’t let your dreams die.

His mission: to help others have great lives; to rediscover their passions; to live their dreams.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Walt is a graduate of The Cornell Law School.  For more than 25 years he has counseled and advocated for business leaders and individuals through countless transitions, difficult, challenging and rewarding.

Through his dynamic coaching, live events and blogs, Walt informs, educates and inspires others to find their path, and to live it with heart.

Our lives are journeys. They have a beginning, a middle and an end. They are physical
journeys, as well as journeys of the heart, and mind and soul. You can either live them
deeply, as daring adventures – or you can muddle through.

When you muddle, you end up quietly dissatisfied. You feel squeezed by time and
caught up in responsibilities; you feel as if you’re taking care of everyone else’s needs
and not your own; you realize that you’re not living the life you we once imagined. And
how easily the years slips by.

But there is another way: You can live with purpose, passion and possibility; you can
enjoy fun freedom and fulfillment. (And yes, still take care of those you love.) You can
have it all. You really can.

This was an educational read.  It was filled with many life-affirming quotes that are meant to inspire and remind the reader to reach for their dreams.  I liked how it was written in an easy to understand approach, almost like you were reading the excerpts from a friend.

I was impressed with the drive and determination found on the pages and loved the side stories the author shared with the reader.  As well as the anecdotes and thoughts shared by many worthy notable figures in history.

I found it to be an easy read and the lessons are simple to interpret.  The passages are well read and the imagery is easily viewed in your mind's eye.

I would give Journeys on the Edge a three and a half out of five stars.  I thought it was a good read but I didn't get from it the information I thought I would.  Much of the information shared can be found most anywhere, however, it is the writing style in which author, Walt Hampton, writes with that makes this an agreeable book to peruse.  Who knows, you may find something inside that sparks your desire to succeed.

  1. Wow! This looks truly exciting, I'll have to check this one out! I love travel adventure chronicles so this is right up my alley. (I loved Heinrich Harrer's Seven Years in Tibet).
